Secretary of State grants planning consent for Hartland Park
Following a Public Inquiry, the Secretary of State has granted planning consent in September 2009 for Hartland Park, a major distribution centre development in Hampshire. Cascade is a member of the consultancy team supporting the site owner PruPIM and developer Prologis. The company assisted in producing the Environmental Statement (managing the ecology, water, waste and air quality assessments), and prepared the Wildlife Management Plan and the Construction Environmental Management Plan, as well as providing technical support at the Public Inquiry.
Cascade is responsible for undertaking ecological work on site, the most important of which is acid grassland translocation. The acid grassland currently exists in fragmented areas within the site but will be translocated into a suitable receptor area within an existing SINC, where the habitat can be consolidated and managed to protect its key species. Other ecological work includes the protection of badger, bats, reptiles and birds during the planned demolition and construction works, and longer term environmental protection and enhancement during operation of the distribution centre.
