Belfry Redevelopment
Client - The Belfry Golf Club / Quinn
The project involves an EIA of the ecology and hydrology and drainage aspects of the redevelopment of the Belfry. The proposals are to demolish a substantial component of the existing Belfry Hotel, the Bel Air Nightclub and the PGA HQ offices and Golf Academy Lodges. It is anticipated that the existing building will be replaced with a circa 500-bed 5 star hotel (eight storeys high as opposed to the existing four), golf resort with 1,600 car parking spaces (900 in a single level underground car park and 700 above ground spaces) and the implementation of the previously permitted new entrance from the junction of the Tamworth and Lichfield Roads. As the material excavated for the hotel and other associated structures will be used to landscape the existing three golf courses and/or stockpiled, the red planning application line has been extended to include the entire golf course complex.
