Neyland Marina Environmental Monitoring

Client - Yacht Havens Ltd

An environmental monitoring programme of a trickle dredging scheme for Neyland Marina. The monitoring programme has consisted of continuous measurement of turbidity levels and monitoring of the sublittoral benthic macrofauna populations within the Milford Haven estuary prior to and following each phase of dredging. The monitoring protocol was drawn up and agreed with CCW and CEFAS to support the conditions of the FEPA dredge licence. The monitoring of the dredging operations is required due to the ecological sensitivity of the receiving waters. Milford Haven forms part of the Pembrokeshire Marine Statutory Area of Conservation (SAC), designated under the EC Directive on the Conservation of Natural Habitats and of Wild Flora and Fauna (92/43/EEC).
