Upper Thames Major Resource Development

Client - Thames Water

In common with other water companies in the south east of England, Thames Water is predicting significant difficulties in being able to supply sufficient water to customers over the next 25 years. Consistent with the water industry adopted twin track approach to dealing with this issue, Thames Water is implementing measures to reduce the demand for water whilst also making provision to develop new resources. This project reviews the requirement for a new major water resource development in the Upper Thames catchment.  Cascade Consulting has been appointed by Thames Water to:

  • Provide overall management of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)
  • Prepare the ‘water resource needs case’ including integration of the reservoir alternative sites work
  • Provide technical expertise and inputs to the EIA process including hydrological, hydro-geomorphological, water quality, ecological and hydro-geological assessments (including modelling and monitoring)
  • Provide technical assistance to determine the optimum reservoir operating regime.
  • Provide support for planning and consultation, particularly engaging the planning and regulatory authorities as well as the many other interested parties.
