Cascade Consulting specialises in environmental consultancy for coastal and marine development and has a significant track record in the environmental assessment of coastal schemes. The team has a strong background in marinas, docks and harbour developments and has undertaken numerous environmental assessments of marina developments around the UK. Cascade Consulting is currently involved with the environmental assessments of seven coastal development projects in the UK and has worked on over 25 small boat marinas in recent years.
The company has experience of marine developments and environmental assessments for very sensitive sites in or adjacent to many of the UK marine SAC, SPA and Ramsar sites, representing a significant proportion of the coastal EC designated Natura 2000 sites in England and Wales. Most of the studies have required an assessment of the effects of development on hydrodynamical / geomorphological and ecological interaction.
Project experience ranges from the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) of marine developments such as marinas and coastal defences, through to design and option assessment of coastal managed realignment and habitat creation schemes. This has involved detailed monitoring studies of coastal developments such as dredging schemes, measuring the impacts on geomorphology, water quality and ecology.
